It is not uncommon to hear these days people being struck by the killer disease, cancer. The death by cancer is traumatic, of prolonged suffering and painful. Asked as to what is the cause and reason for the spread of this killer disease, a doctor said: Our present lifestyle, eating habits, lack of hygiene and use of pesticides. Unlike our ancestors who worked hard on all activities to earn their livelihood, in present times with modern inventions and comforts of life, we have lost touch with nature.
Plastic is the worst that has happened in our time. It is the main cause for cancer. Carcinogenic compounds immediately mix with the hot directly consumable eatables when packed in plastic bags or containers and affect our bodies. But we won’t realise the harm of plastic use in our day to day life. Instead, it’s become a routine habit with every fisher folk and vendors in the market to pull out a plastic bag, shove the commodity in and handover the bag to the purchaser who merrily walks home swinging the bag to and forth. With promises only flying in the air, our government has done little to curb the manufacture of plastic and deter the public from its use by enacting stringent law.
Nature is ever loving and caring with her tender touch, more than a mother. She has provided us enough to keep us happy and live happily: Medicinal herbs, plants, fruits and much more. No wonder, our grandmas had the healing touch. At anytime her grand-little ones complained of stomach pain or constipation, they would just walk into the backyard or garden, pick up some herbs and crush it between their nimble fingers and shove the paste in the mouth of the little ones. Soon then they would be out playing in the mud, shouting and screaming at their games.
But who cares, times have passed, we live in a modern world of excitement and wonders. We cannot turn back the hands of the clock to old times. It’s true. But when we cry in distress, the sweet soft whisper of Nature seem to say: It’s too late now! Avoid plastic and pesticides.
