GFDC opens 28th centre

PANJIM: The Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) marches on with the inauguration of their 28th grassroots football development centre at Socorro-Vaddem, Porvorim in association with Friends XI Sports Club, recently.

The inauguration was done by MLA Rohan Khaunte in the presence of Dr Rufino Monteiro, chairman of GFDC and Fr Santan Carvalho, parish priest of Socorro and GFDC member Brahmanand Shankwalkar and Shantaram Naik.
Fr Carvalho expressed his joy on the opening of the centre as it would allow the youngsters to develop and showcase their talent. Dr Rufino urged the 68 trainees to be regular, disciplined and dedicated so that GFDC could realize the dreams of ex-CM Shri Manohar Parrikar in making Goa, the hub of Indian football.
Khaunte promised help for the centre and urged the trainees to be focused so that they could represent the State, country or clubs some day.
