MARGAO: With the State Election Commission announcing the schedule for panchayat polls and the Model Code of Conduct coming into force, process of depositing the fire arms at the various police stations in Salcete Taluka has begun.
Police stated that over 200 firearms were deposited by licence holders on the first day on Monday in Salcete Taluka after orders were issued by District Magistrate and District Election Officer South Goa regarding the depositing of arms.

Margao has 186 licence holder of firearms, of which 64 arms licence holders have deposited their weapons while Maina-Curtorim police has 136 arms licence holders and 72 of them deposited their fire arms.
