PANJIM: Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs has revised its Goa State Sports Policy for the academic 2012-13 for the benefit of the students who have participated in sports at various levels viz. taluka, district, state, zonal, national international.
According to the revised policy, sports marks will be shown separately and will be part of the total, provided the total does not exceed the maximum allotted marks of the subject.
The passing percentage for sportspersons has been reduced by 10 per cent provided the students have that much sports merit marks allotted to them.
The following games have been considered for the allotment of sports merit marks: Athletic, archery, atya patya, baseball, badminton, basketball, Boxing, bodybuilding, carrom, chess, cricket, football, go-karting, hiking/mountaineering, handball, hockey, judo, kho-kho, kabaddi, karate, mallakhambh, netball, roller skating, rifle shooting, tennis, sepak takraw, shooting ball, swimming, softball, taekwondo, table tennis, tennis ball cricket, throwball, tennikoit, tug-of-war, volleyball, wrestling, weight lifting, yachting, yoga, squash, gymnastics, rope skipping, fencing.
The heads of the secondary and higher secondary schools have been asked to submit the details about the sports merit marks secured by the students appearing for Standard XII (HSSC) exam to the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Porvorim latest by March 5 and that of students of Standard X (SSCE) latest by March 15.
Necessary counter certificates will be issued by DSYA and SAG as informed to the schools vie DSYA circular dated March 7.
