Most of the developed countries and even the underdeveloped have put their politics in top gear, unlike India which is still in the developing countries category and has its gear in retrograde motion.
Looking at the happenings that we see and read on newspapers and electronic media it is very sad to imagine what will be the future of middle class and poor citizens of India. At this juncture, it comes to my mind the legendary tales of the three monkeys, one with both hands on his mouth meaning “don’t speak evil”, the second with both hands on either side on the ears meaning “don’t hear evil” and the third one with both his hands shutting both the eyes meaning “don’t see evil”. But I feel this is not the complete picture, as there should be one more the fourth one giving a very important, relevant and powerful message in the present age with both his hands showing upwards meaning “don’t do evil” as actions speak louder than words. If you practise the above first three messages ignoring the fourth message then you do nothing significant without the fourth, which is the essence of good humanity.
By just saying “acche din”, that 15 lakhs will be deposited in every voters account in the bank from the black money stashed by the super and filthy rich individuals in the Swiss banks. Slogans like “beti padao beti bachao” and “sabke sath sabka vikas” is confined only in black and white on paper. There are no genuine actions to be seen in reality at the ground level.
So the people fell or got carried away by the magic of the charismatic orator, so much so that they got so to say a brute majority in the last federal elections. By just raising his index finger to his erring ministers he can make their trousers wet. For all the inequities happening in the States of India like rapes, murders, robbery, dacoity, etc, he maintains a stoical silence.
Only the Nirbhaya rape and murder case spread all over the world just because she happened to be a paramedic perhaps from a higher strata of society. She was flown for treatment to Singapore but unfortunately lost the battle of life.
What about the Unnao, Khatau and the recent Hatras rape and murder cases? Are they not human beings, children of the lesser God? Will justice be ever delivered to their family as all the evidences are swept under the carpet as those responsible for this heinous crime belong to the higher community. Both the PM and the HM who are all omnipotent as they may think of themselves are mute and dumb to the atrocities saying “kuch bhi karo main hoon na”.
By treating these incidents as negligible ones, India is losing its image in the universal human happiness index all over the world.
