VASCO: It has been decided to beautify Church Square near St Andrews Church in Vasco under the beautification plan that would be initiated soon.
As part of the plan, a footbridge would also be built at the Church Square.
This was disclosed by Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, who was speaking to reporters after launching of four projects, including the construction of footpath, gutters all along the road from Church Square to Goa Shipyard Limited (funded by GSL under CSR activity).
The development work has been divided into four phases and would be completed in six months time.
“Improvement and beautification of Church Square is a very important project as Church square marks the first major road junction located at the entrance to Vasco city.
The consultant for beautification of Church Square has been appointed, all proposed drawings for the project have also been finalised and work would start shortly, he said.
Similarly, since the pedestrian movement at the Church Square is quite significant, which disrupts the free-flow of traffic movement, besides posing risk to the pedestrians as well as motorists, a foot overbridge has also been planned so that pedestrians have no problem, Almeida added.
