Valpoi: The neglected Valpoi Municipal Council garden is set to get a new look soon, with the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and prominent citizens deciding to install the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, mounted on a horse.
The garden has been neglected and is in bad condition for the past several years. People have been demanding the beautification of the garden for quite some time now, but the shortage of VMC funds had prevented this task.
There is only one garden in town and that too is in bad condition, says Sanjeev Gaonkar, a local.
At a special meeting held recently, a decision was taken to renovate the garden and to install the statue of Shivaji. The Zilla Member Premnath Hazare thanked the Health Minister for coming forward to install the statue and to renovate the garden. The garden will be beneficial to all people from Sattari.
