Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Mayor Rohit Monserrate has expressed his interest in contesting the Taleigao Assembly constituency, stating that he wishes to carry forward the legacy of his late mother, Jennifer Monserrate.
Speaking about his political aspirations, Rohit said he hopes to continue the strong bond that his mother shared with the people of Taleigao and build upon the work associated with her public service.
Jennifer Monserrate was widely regarded for her close connect with residents of the constituency, and Rohit said he is keen to uphold that legacy by serving the people of Taleigao.
While expressing his willingness to enter the electoral fray, Rohit did not elaborate on the timing of his candidature or the party’s decision regarding the Assembly seat.
His remarks come amid growing political activity ahead of the next Assembly elections, with parties and prospective candidates beginning to signal their intentions.
