Panchawadi United enter semis

MARGAO: Panchawadi United Sports Club came from behind to edge past Navelim Villagers Union 2-1 to secure a birth in the last four of All-Goa Bebe Costa memorial Super Soccer tournament organized by United Club of Benaulim, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Saturday. All the goals came in the first half.

Navelim Villagers started the game in at the right earnest with their midfielders and forwards working in tandem to put the rival defence into disarray. Former Sporting Clube de Goa midfielder, Wilton Gomes beat the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot, 1-0.
Stung by the setback, Panchawadi regrouped quickly and instantly took the fight to the rival camp. Their efforts bore fruit after Alton Pereira’s shot was fumbled by Navelim goalkeeper Chandrakant Naik.
Spurred by the equalizer, Panchawadi intensified their attacks and pushed their opponents on the back-foot.
Myron Mascarenhas struck the match-winner just before the lemon break after receiving a through pass from Denzil. 
Post resumption, Navelim Villagers put up a vast display and raided the rival goal but central defender Asiyio Godinho were alert in frustrating the rival attacks.
Subsequently, Navelim Villagers were unlucky after striker Allister Gomes power-packed shot kissed the crossbar.
Navelim Villagers Union tried their best in search of equalizer but Panchawadi defenders were to strong in thwarting rival attacks.
