SALIGAO: Summer football coaching camp for the boys and girls in the age group of U-12, 14 and 16 which was sponsored by GFDC and organised by Saligao Sporting Club and held for over a week concluded at Saligao Sporting Club ground, recently.
About 170 children participated in the camp with great enthusiasm. Coach Agostinho Dias and coach Alexander Fernandes, along with Sandesh Chodankar former player guided and trained the participants.
Large numbers of parents were present for the closing function and they praised the organisers for conducting the camp. Chief guest Fr Rego congratulated the children and wished them good luck to be good footballers. He also praised the club for carrying out the various sports activities.
Tony Remedios in his introductory speech thanked Dr Rufino Monteiro and GFDC for sponsoring the camp and stressed the need to have a permanent playground for Saligao. He also thanked the parents for their co-operation and requested the parents to demand for the playground and raise this issue.
President of the club Tony Remedios welcomed the gathering while Suresh Velguenkar introduced the chief guest to the participants and Milagrina Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
