PANJIM: Shilpa, Medha , Anjali and Manasi entered the semi-finals of the 51st LIC Western Zonal Chess and Carrom Tournament, at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias , Miramar, on Tuesday.
In the quarterfinals, Medha Mathkari (Pune) beat Rupali Patwardhan from Mumbai 25-4, 25-0. Anjali Siripuram (Mumbai) beat Shubhada Aphale of Pune 25-6, 25-2.
Shilpa Palnitkar of Thane eased past Kuntal Shah of Vadodara 25-0, 25-0. Manasi Kadam of Thane beat Shaila Jadhav of Mumbai 25-9, 25-2.
In the men’s section, Prakash, Pramod and Katnoriya made semis grade.
In the quarters, Pune’s Prakash Gaikwad beat Rajendra Ahire of Mumbai 25-4, 25-0. Mumbai’s Pramod Jadhav beat Sudesh Marathe 25-14, 17-15.
S.V Katonoriya of Pune beat Jaywant Kamble of Mumbai 25-8, 24-4.
In the chess tournament, Dinesh Bhandarkar (Mumbai) lead with four points while
Vijay M. Dhale (Amravati) is second with same points.
Shirish Bakshi (Aurangabad), S J Pinto (Mumbai), Anjaya Ghop (Thane), Anant Gokhale (Kolhapur) and M M Parmar (Gandhinagar) are on three points.
In the women category, J P Sankpal (Satara) leading with 3.5 points along With
Anagha Yardi (Nasik) who is also on 3.5 poitnts. Sandhya Kothi (Vadodara), Sangita Jadhav (Mumbai), Vandana S Bandodkar (Goa), and Reshma U Shah (Ahmedabad) are on three points.
