All together 51 junior engineers/technical assistants were promoted to the post of Assistant Engineer at the DPC held in August of which 22 were degree holders in electrical engineering and 29 were diploma in electrical engineering. Earlier, the GPSC had promoted 11 assistant engineers, who held degree in electrical engineering to the position of executive and 17 Assistant Engineers who hold diploma in electrical engineering to the post of executive engineer.

The department currently has most of the positions at Assistant Engineer, Executive Engineer and Superintending Engineer levels in place, vastly improving their cadre management.

The post of chief electrical engineer has been vacant for some time now and was earlier held on deputation basis by Keni who superannuated two years ago. The Commission has advertised the position to be filled on deputation and interviews are likely to be held shortly to select an appropriate candidate.
