Cong flays CCP for ignoring Shantaram

PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday flayed the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) and the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) for failing to recognise the contribution of former Member of Parliament late Shantaram Naik for the Panjim Garden.
The Panjim garden, near Government Printing Press, was inaugurated last week by the Urban Development Minister Milind Naik.
GPCC president Girish Chodankar said that the contribution for the beautification of the garden was given by late Shantaram Naik through MPLAD fund.
“The CCP and the GSIDC failed to recognise his contribution and did not even make a mention of Mr Naik during the inauguration. The two agencies did not even invite his family members for the function,” Chodankar said while unveiling the photograph of the former Rajya Sabha MP in Congress Headquarters.
He stated that Naik had made immense contribution to the garden and use to personally monitor the progress.
Naik’s photograph was unveiled at the Congress office at the hands of former union minister Eduardo Faleiro. St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes, Velim MLA Filipe Neri Rodrigues, Adv Ramakant Khalap, family members of Naik and office bearers of Congress party were also present for the function.
