Cuncolim Union break impasse in sudden death

MARGAO: Cuncolim Union came from behind to get the better of Chandor Club 6-5 in the sudden death to romp into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Chinchinim Villagers Trophy inter-village football tournament, organized by Union of Chinchinim Villagers, at church ground, Wednesday.

MARGAO: Cuncolim Union came from behind to get the better of Chandor Club 6-5 in the sudden death to romp into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Chinchinim Villagers Trophy inter-village football tournament, organized by Union of Chinchinim Villagers, at church ground, Wednesday. 
All the goals came in the first half. Chandor stunned the rival goal in the very 2nd minute when striker Sevraj D’Costa slotted past the rival goalkeeper with stinging shot.
Stung by that setback, Cuncolim Union regrouped quickly and instantly took the fight to the rival camp and their efforts bore the fruit when Myron Fernandes punished the rival goalkeeper with clinical finish off Saurbah Faterpenkar through pass.
Crossing over, the teams played an aggressive soccer but goalkeeper stood tall in protecting the citadel intact. There were few attempts at either goal. 
With the stalemate ending in a 1-1 draw. In the ensuing tie-breaker, Myron Fernandes, Cliffton Fernandes, Saurbah Faterpekar and Danwin Fernandes were on target for Cuncolim Union while Cruz Gomes, Ivan Pinto and Moses D’Costa converted for Chandor Club.
The tie-breaker failed to resolve the issue with 4-4 draw. Further, the impasse was resolved through sudden death wherein Cuncolim Union make shift goalkeeper Saurbah Faterpenkar came up with four saves.
