UTORDA: Parish Youth Nuvem drubbed CAC Sports and Social Club, Cansaulim, 3-0 to advance into semi-finals of the Lourdes festival all-Goa inter-village soccer in memory of late Polly Rodrigues organised by United Club of Utorda in association with SAG Panjim at SAG ground, Utorda, on Tuesday.
Both teams dished out good football but it was Parish Youth Nuvem drew first blood in the 3rd minute through Jerome Oliver’s rasping drive which was assisted by Shubert Colaco.
In the 15th minute, CAC Cansaulim made their best move to equalise where Roshuel Figueredo’s excellent cross to Elvin Fernandes was shot wide who had only rival goalkeeper at his mercy.
At 20th minute, Jowet Barretto of CAC dribbled past few players and passed the ball to Elvino Fernandes whose powerful header hit the cross bar.
At 31st minute, Gammy Costa pumped in the second goal with a curler shot to make the score 2-0 at the break for the Nuvem side.
Post resumption, Parish Youth Nuvem’s Jerome Oliver increased the tally at the 47th minute by a deft placing. C.A.C Cansaulim goalkeeper Prabhakar Kattiami restricted Nuvem Strikers and made some good saves for the day.
