PANJIM: Panjim Footballers registered another shocking result as they defeated Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 2-0 in the Goa Professional League match, organised by GFA, played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Saturday.
It was just six minutes when Cavelossim had a chance to take an early lead but Perryson Fernandes saw his powerful strike easily collected by Panjim keeper Gurpreet Singh. Despite some attacking football and dominant play by the South Goa club, it was Panjim who drew the first blood in the 15th minutes as Snedden Rodrigues’ dribbled past a defender on the wing and found Harshad in the box with a cut-back pass, whose shot finished in the net making it 1-0 for his side.
Panjim Footballers doubled their lead with just six minutes in the second half when Harshad’s cross from the right completely beat the Cavelossim defence before finding unmarked Mahesh Kumar chest touch was enough to beat the keeper Siddesh Morje from the handshaking distance making it 2-0 for the Capital city side.
