VASCO: South Goa District Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president and Sancoale panchayat member Tulshidas Naik was allegedly manhandled by a labourer working at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) site at Zuarinagar.
The incident occurred on Thursday in the presence of Cortalim MLA Anton Vas and former Sancoale sarpanch and garbage contractor Narayan Naik. The accused identified as Salim Bagwale also in the past was a garbage contractor and was blacklisted by the panchayat. However, he was now working at the MRF site.
On Thursday an altercation broke out between Naik and Salim, and the latter in a fit of anger allegedly manhandled him. Naik later filed a police complaint. The Verna police have registered it as a non-cognisance offence and are conducting investigations.
In another case, Shantanu Singh, senior manager at Parmesh Constructions Company Ltd lodged a complaint against three persons for obstructing company’s water tanker driver and for abusing his employees working on the site at Savarfond, Sancoale.
Singh in his complaint stated that Narayan D Naik, Maria Fernandes and Succorina Vales, all from Sancoale allegedly restrained the water tanker driver from proceeding towards the property.A case has been registered against three persons under Sections 126(2), 352, 351(2), read with 3(5) of the BNS Act.
