MARGAO: Konkan Railway Police on Tuesday seized tobacco products worth Rs 14 lakh at Margao Railway Station.
The parcels loaded with tobacco products, according to the Konkan Railway Police, arrived from Orissa.

Konkan Railway PI Hiru Kavleker said Rs 14 lakh worth tobacco packets have been seized at the Margao Railway Station. Police said after a search they seized 15 bags containing illegally transported tobacco packets worth Rs 14 lakh.
According PI Kavlekar, the consignment of the tobacco packets “Chaini ” arrived via Goa Express Train from Odisha at Margao Railway Station in the name of one Panab Gupta, 218, Main Market, Margao.
A consignment was found in the parcel room and the same has been seized under the panchanama. However further investigation is in progress, the PI said.
Konkan Railway Police said so far the owner of the said consignment has not been arrested. However, a case under section 87 F of the Goa Public Health Act 2005 has been registered.
