Sridora Caculo College is a strong team that has a number of achievements in their bag. They have won the Goa University football championship twice and have been runners-up the same number of times.
Under the leadership of Jayesh Churi, the team has performed well over the years creating some of the best players to play on Goan soil; one notable player is goalkeeper Felix D’Souza who lifted the Santosh Trophy without conceding a single goal.
The team’s strong point is that they believe in hard work and they want to prove themselves to their coach for the belief he’s had in them. They have a good side with some notable players like Pandhari Chopdekar who started his football career with Dempo Juniors and Sporting Clube de Goa. He was also a part of the Goa-India squad that won the gold medal.
Calangute Association player and former Sesa FA player Gopi Gad will be in charge of the battle in the midfield. Rohit Maulingkar who played for Vasco U-20 will be the man to keep the ball from entering the net. Overall the team from Maupsa will want to step up and perform in the highest level and portray a good brand of football.
On the other hand, Shubham Rao Dessai and Frazer Fernandes will lead St Xaviers College, which has been the most consistent team in terms of performance in the North. They have created one of the best players in Goa which includes Mandar Rao Dessai, captained the India-Goa Lusofonia football team that won the gold medal.
St Xaviers won the best college in sports award for a consecutive seventh year. They were the Goa University champions on one occasion and runners-up in the year 2009. Their recent triumph in the girls football tournament organized by Goa University for the fourth time overall, portrays the amount of dedication in football.
Shubam will lead the attacking with his sharp finishing while Denzil will cause problems with his accurate crosses from the wings. Fraser will handle the responsibility under the bar. Despite crashing out early in the Goa University tournament they are one of the strong contenders to lift the trophy and silence critics.
