MARGAO: In a shocking incident, the Fatorda police on Saturday morning found a human hand in a decomposed state at the parking lot of one building at Ambaji-Fatorda, near R R Café.
People residing in and around the area rushed to the spot after hearing the news and expressed surprise and concern over the incident.
Fatorda PI Ditendra Naik said a case under Section 174 of CrPC has been registered.
The Fatorda police stated that they received information on Saturday at around 9.30 am that Head Constable on patrolling duty Nilesh Kasker noticed that a human hand was lying at Ambaji-Fatorda.
Accordingly, a police team headed by PI Naik visited the spot and after conducting an inquiry, the decomposed human hand was sent to South Goa District Hospital for postmortem examination. He said that the police are waiting for the post mortem examination report.
PI Naik said that a dog squad and finger print experts were called to the spot and a scientific expert prepared the report.
“It is difficult to arrive at a conclusion whether it is murder or suicide. We are scanning CCTV footages in the locality to look out for clues,” said police.
It is learnt that a stray dog brought the decomposed human hand and threw it in the parking lot of a building.
A senior police officer said that wireless messages have been flashed to all police stations across Goa and neighbouring States to find out the list of missing persons. PSI Aamin Naik is investigating.
