Quepem Municipal Council Councillor and former chairperson Dayesh Naik said, “Since the Quepem municipality in is control of the BJP party, the work should have been carried out by the PWD on an urgent basis.”

Reacting to this, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa said, “When I was travelling this side, I noticed that the widening road work has been stopped for the last one and a half years, and later I contacted the engineer and the contractor asked them about this pending work.”

The engineer replied that the work was in a partial state as there were electric poles where the widening work was going on and the poles had not been shifted that’s why this work is on hold.

Quepem Municipality Chairperson Suchita Shirwaikar said that for shifting electric poles from the road widening places, the municipality has already paid Rs 53 lakh for the concerned department.
