PANJIM: Since its inception in 1974, after the death of late chief minister D.B. Bandodkar, the four-decade old “Bandodkar memorial football tournament organized by Baina Sports Club will kick off on June 13, at MPT ground, Vasco, at 4.30 p.m.
Mormugao United SC, Vasco will take on United Club of Nerul, Bardez in the inaugural match. Nana Bandekar, industrialist and football enthusiast will declare the tournament open.
The winners will receive Rs 50, 000 while the runners-up will take home Rs 40, 000. Semi-finals losers will get Rs 10,000 each.
Individual cash prizes of Rs 3,000 each for better performance will also be awarded namely upcoming player of the tournament, highest scoring team of the tournament, highest scorer player of tournament, best goalkeeper of the tournament and best disciplined team of the tournament.
