The composer
and music producer of the famous ‘Tiki Taka’ (Vamos Goa) and Ole Ola Forca Goa, Edmund Gomes is tasting
the genre of romance and love with his new original Konkani love song ‘Kalliz
Mhojem’. Popularly known by his stage name ‘EDM GOMES’, Edmund is asinger,
songwriter, musician and a music producer from Sanguem. His song is trending on
YouTube within just two weeks of its release, having received 43k views
already. Besides composing his own songs, he produces music for many other
popular Goan artists. Cuurently, Edmund works as an Automobile instructor,
performs as a DJ at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, during the Indian
Super League (ISL) matches and is a bassist at the Goan band ‘Black In White’.
Love floats in the
air when Edmund’s latest single, ‘Kalliz Mhoje’ hits the listeners’ ears.
Standing out among the numerous other love songs in Konkani, ‘Kalliz Mhojem’ is
a modern ballad that recites a saga of love, faith and trust. This is a love
song that can be sung to portray one’s feelings for their beloved and has a
catchy chorus so that you can sing your heart out. “It has got an electronic
modern sound which is perfectly blended with guitars and a very catchy chorus
that grabs your ears at the first listen. The composition is very gentle,
natural and melodious that makes it similar to the beat of the heart”, tells
Edmund.

The music video,
trending on all social media as people are watching it on YouTube and sharing
it with their loved ones is starring Vrinda Valankie Vaz and Edmund himself.
Agnel Fernandes and Apolonario Gomes are the two pillars without whom, EDM
Gomes would not be able to come out with such beautiful lyrics for the song.
Portraying his passion for music, the artist depended on Franky Fernandes for
his perfect direction and Cinematography while photography and the album artwas
done by Jude Silveira. Recorded, mixed and mastered by EDM Gomes himself at the
White Noise studios, the official music is a result of true dedication and hard
work. The video was shot in a span of two months and got fame in just two
weeks. “It was shot at different locations in Goa itself. We wanted the video
to have a free flow rather than a story line”, Edmund informed.
Goa is truly gifted
as we get to hear stories about people like EDM Gomes, who stay passionate and
committed to their interests. For every occasion what Edmund does is, he
composes many new tunes.
“My friend wanted me
to sing the wedding special song for his wedding. I thought this would be a
great opportunity to write something special. So I got to work and could manage
to write only the melody of the song and was never able to perform”, said
Edmund. While going through his files, he found his composition which he
decided to add lyrics to and convert it into a music video.Not surprised by the
fact that Goans love his music, Edmund expresses “I definitely feel great and
blessed that the song is loved by all. Not only ‘Kalliz Mhojem’ but also my
other compositions have made a great impact on the Goan audience. I am
extremely grateful to all the people who support original music in Goa”.
Having
a voice like Edmund’s, is a gift that not everyone gets, soothing and sweet to
listen to on a pleasing romantic night. “’Kalliz Mhojem’ is dedicated to all
the people who want to express their love to their loved ones.Though there are
many Konkani love songs, I decided to give this song a new and a modern touch”,
he said. Speaking about his future plans in composing and producing more of
Konkani music, he says “I strongly believe in evolving and improving the
Konkani music scene in Goa while still maintaining the cultural aspects”.
