CUNCOLIM: Taking serious note of the deteriorating road conditions and sanitation issues at Cuncolim Industrial Estate, local citizens are urgently calling on authorities to implement corrective measures. Residents have highlighted the declining state of infrastructure and its negative impact on daily operations and overall quality of life.

Frustration is mounting among both residents and employees, who stress that immediate intervention is essential for the well-being of the area. Speaking to reporters, community members emphasized the need for authorities to take decisive action rather than shifting responsibility. They warned that passing the buck only delays necessary improvements.
Currently, the estate is grappling with deplorable road conditions and significant sanitation problems, forcing employees to endure dangerous commutes and work in unsanitary environments. “The estate’s roads are pockmarked with potholes, making it difficult for vehicles to pass through, especially during rain,” said Prakash Naik, a resident of Cuncolim. He noted that water accumulation in these potholes exacerbates the situation, creating hazardous conditions for commuters.
The combination of dangerous road conditions and inadequate sanitation is severely impacting daily operations and employee safety. Naik also recounted a recent incident where a dead cow was left on the premises for two days, emitting a foul odor and contributing to an unsanitary environment. Despite the urgent need for removal, no authority has taken responsibility for the issue. The municipality has claimed it is not their responsibility, shifting the burden to the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). This lack of accountability has further worsened the sanitation problems at the estate.
Rohan Desai, another concerned citizen, urged authorities to take immediate action to address these pressing issues. Locals and employees at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate are calling for several key measures: urgent repair and maintenance of the roads, improved sanitation practices, and the development of a permanent solution in collaboration with relevant authorities.
