PANJIM: Fr Agnel College, Pilar, Rosary College, Navelim, Cuncolim Educational Society’s College and Government College, Sanquelim registered emphatic victories on Day 8 of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Football Championship 2025-26 for Men.
At the University ground, Fr Agnel College of Arts & Commerce, Pilar, crushed Dhempe College of Arts & Science, Miramar 8-0. Seven goals came in the first half with Pritam Basak opening the account in the 5th minute, Ruben netting twice in the 13th and 26th, Tanvesh adding one in the 17th, Shaniel Lucas striking twice in the 18th and 20th, and Joven Fernandes scoring in the 30th. The rout was completed in the second half when Nayan Chetri scored in the 47th minute.
In the second fixture, Dempo Charities Trust’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Cujira, Bambolim, were awarded a walkover against Goa College of Music, Altinho.
The third match at the same venue saw Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, defeat PG Goa University 3-0. Rohan Yadav struck in the 15th minute before Joshua Caveia added two more in the 39th and 68th minutes. Caveia was named best performer.
At the Rosary ground, Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola, edged past Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao 1-0, courtesy of a 70th-minute strike from Gaurav Kaulekar.
Cuncolim Educational Society’s College of Arts & Commerce then overwhelmed Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College, Pernem 8-0. The scoreline read 6-0 at half-time with Prince Figueredo netting twice (2nd, 19th), Saish Gaonkar completing a first-half hat-trick (12th, 24th, 34th), and Tohid Yattanale adding another in the 31st. In the second half, Gaonkar scored again in the 50th before Pranay Velip completed the rout in the 55th minute. Gaonkar’s four-goal display earned him the best performer award.
In the final match, Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim, also routed Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College, Pernem, 6-0. Ramnath Parab opened with a brace in the 5th and 16th minutes, followed by Aayan Maldar’s goal in the 27th. After the break, Heramb Sawant netted in the 37th before Parab completed his hat-trick with strikes in the 43rd and 53rd minutes. Parab was adjudged best performer.
