MAPUSA: Salgaocar FC successfully conducted the opening ceremony of the 11th edition of its Community Outreach Programme (COP) at the Chicalim panchayat ground, recently.
The event was graced by Vimson Group of Companies Director Swati Salgaocar, who kicked off the programme. Over 500 children from Vasco are participating, which aims to promote sports, healt and social welfare in the community.
During the programme, notable contributors to Goan football were felicitated, including Jude Baretto, former physical education teacher of Infant Jesus Academy, Velsao, and former India age group coach, currently head coach of Cortalim Villagers and Marcus Mergulao.
The event was attended by Goa Football Association Executive Member Francisco Nunes, Salgaocar FC Head Operations Sanjiv Nagvenkar and General Secretary Amith Gaude. Umer Muttawalli coordinated the programme with a team of 30 coaches and 30 volunteers.
The Community Outreach Programme is a flagship initiative of Salgaocar FC, aimed at promoting football and community development in the State.
