Trade and defence dominate Modi’s latest ‘warm’ conversation with Trump

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump spoke on Thursday, using their telephone conversation to review the ongoing progress of the India–US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the consistent expansion of bilateral cooperation across numerous sectors.

According to an official readout, the discussion covered efforts to sustain momentum in boosting bilateral trade, along with plans to strengthen ties in critical technologies, energy, defence, security and other key areas tied to the India–US COMPACT framework.

They also exchanged views on important regional and global issues, agreeing to coordinate closely on shared concerns and common goals in the current geopolitical climate.

Modi and Trump agreed to remain in touch as the two nations continue to advance their strategic partnership.
