MNS president Raj Thackeray has claimed that Goa has been “ruined because of reels,” pointing to social media content that reveals sensitive location details. Speaking on the issue, Thackeray said many youngsters from Maharashtra create reels to showcase their regions, which in itself is not wrong. However, he argued that several creators end up revealing exact locations while filming in Konkan, Goa, and nearby areas.
According to Thackeray, such content makes it easier for outsiders to identify land parcels and scenic locations, eventually leading to easier access and alleged land encroachment. He said youths often showcase beaches, forts, and lesser-known scenic spots without realising the long-term consequences. Thackeray added that land-related issues in Goa have intensified due to such reels, contributing to environmental and cultural damage in the state.
