Vasco Police Station have registered two separate FIRs in connection with APK-based cyber fraud incidents in which victims were cheated of more than ₹4 lakh.
In the first case, a resident of Mundvel was allegedly duped of ₹2.30 lakh by a man who posed as a bank officer. Police said the accused convinced the victim to download an application through an APK file on the pretext of resolving a banking issue. Soon after the file was installed, the amount was fraudulently debited from the victim’s bank account.

In the second incident, a victim lost ₹1.83 lakh after opening an APK file that was claimed to be linked to an RTO e-challan. Immediately after accessing the file, unauthorised withdrawals were made from the person’s bank account.
Police have launched investigations into both cases and have once again cautioned the public against downloading applications from unknown sources or clicking on suspicious links. Citizens are advised to verify any such communication with official authorities before taking action.
