Noted Goan watercolour artist Kalidas K Satardekar has been officially invited as a guest artist to participate in the prestigious International Watercolor Festival ‘Caspian Waves 2026’, which will be held from June 12 to 14, in Baku, Azerbaijan. Kalidas is the president of the All Goa Art Masters Association and leader of the International Watercolor Society (South India). He has been actively representing Goa and India at national and international art events. Over the years, his artworks have been exhibited in numerous national and international exhibitions, biennales, and watercolour festivals across countries including India, Japan, Turkey, Thailand, Vietnam, Albania, Italy, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Azerbaijan, among others. Azerbaijan, situated at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, is known for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant contemporary art scene.

The participation of Kalidas in ‘Caspian Waves 2026’ marks yet another milestone in his artistic journey and further strengthens Goa’s presence on the global art map. “This will be my second invitation to Azerbaijan, and I am truly honoured Kalidas Satardekar along with Awasaki Nagi (Japan), Kate Grishakova (Slovakia), Mayumi Taguchi (Japan), Artem Polosukhin (Slovakia), Miyuki Okada (Japan) and Shailesh Vengurlekar (India) at the Gallery & Space Coffret, Japan paintings, titled ‘Stairway to Serenity,’ will be exhibited as part of the festival exhibition under the banner of ‘Caspian Waves 2026’,” shares Kalidas, with excitement. to be invited once again as a guest artist to participate in the International Watercolor Festival ‘Caspian Waves 2026’ in Baku. Receiving this invitation, is both a privilege and a recognition of my ongoing journey in watercolour art. I am particularly looking forward to meeting fellow artists from around the world, exchanging artistic experiences, and exploring Azerbaijan’s rich culture and heritage.
One of my watercolour The international festival will feature a watercolour exhibition at the National Art Museum of Azerbaijan, plein air painting sessions in the historic Inner City (Icherisheher) and other picturesque regions of the country, live watercolour demonstrations at the Khatai Art Center, and a cultural program showcasing Azerbaijan’s rich artistic and historical heritage. “I will be participating in plein air painting sessions, including those scheduled in the historic Icherisheher (Old City), and I will also be conducting live watercolour demonstrations alongside other internationally acclaimed artists attending the festival,”, says Kalidas, who recently held his first international solo exhibition titled ‘Pravah’ in Kobe, Japan. He was invited as a guest artist by the Japan Nadeshiko Triennale 2026. His painting, ‘Chapel at ESG,’ was exhibited at the iconic Kobe Port Tower as part of the prestigious triennial festival. For his first visit to Azerbaijan, in October 2025, he was invited by The IWS Art for Healing Team to participate in the ‘Art is Boundless’ International Watercolour Festival, which was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. He was invited as a guest and demonstration artist, to representing India, at this prestigious international gathering. Kalidas is an award-winning artist who has explored different mediums to express his ideas. He teaches art at a government school and has won several state art awards, national awards and has his paintings have been exhibited internationally.
He has also participated in several notable national exhibitions and art events across India, including exhibitions at the renowned Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai; Nehru Centre Art Gallery, Mumbai; India Habitat Centre, New Delhi; and the G-20 Summit Art Exhibition held at Taj Cidade de Goa, Goa. Over the years, he has represented India in numerous international exhibitions, art camps, workshops, and cultural exchange programs, earning recognition for his distinctive watercolour paintings that capture the beauty, heritage, and spirit of Goa
