Comedian Pranit More has deactivated his main Instagram account, which had 3.8 million followers, amid a massive social media backlash triggered by an audience member’s insensitive remarks on his show. The controversy erupted when Himanshu Jangra, a 23-year-old from Gurgaon, told More during a crowdwork segment that he went on a date with a woman and paid ₹370 for a plate of chicken biryani. Jangra then claimed he deserved a “return” on his investment, describing how he pressured the reluctant woman to accompany him to a dark park after she asked for a ride home, evidently waiting for nightfall.
Jangra later apologized and deleted his social media accounts, but the incident sparked widespread outrage. Prominent influencers including Kusha Kapila and Elvish Yadav criticized More for laughing along with the vulgar comment instead of challenging it.

Women on social media expressed fury that More allowed such misogynistic remarks on his show and demanded accountability. More issued an apology, stating that Jangra’s comments did not reflect his views and admitting he made a lapse in judgment by laughing and moving on. He acknowledged he should have challenged the remark and pledged to learn from the experience.
While More’s primary Instagram account is no longer visible, his secondary account @maharashtrianbhau with over 1 million followers remains active, where he continues sharing stand-up comedy content.
