Star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has emerged as one of the most sought-after names in the IPL trade market after deciding to part ways with Mumbai Indians following the franchise’s disappointing 2026 campaign. While discussions remain at an early stage, several teams have already expressed interest in securing his services ahead of the next season.
According to reports, seven IPL franchises are monitoring Pandya’s situation, with only Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad reportedly staying out of the race. Chennai Super Kings have become the latest team to enter the contest, joining Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals among the leading contenders.
CSK are believed to view Pandya as a valuable addition for the post-MS Dhoni era, although there is no certainty that he would automatically become captain if the move materialises. KKR, meanwhile, are searching for a new leader and could offer Pandya the captaincy, while Rajasthan Royals are also prepared to provide him with both leadership responsibilities and a long-term role.
Negotiations are understood to be ongoing between Mumbai Indians and interested franchises, with several trade models under discussion. These include possible player exchanges, all-cash deals and combinations involving multiple assets. However, any transfer would require Pandya’s approval, making his personal preference a crucial factor in the process.
Reports also suggest that two former international captains attempted to convince Pandya to join their respective franchises, although those initial discussions did not progress. Fresh talks could still take place as the trade window develops.
Mumbai Indians are also believed to have another high-profile player whose future could depend on how the Pandya negotiations unfold. The franchise is expected to resolve Pandya’s situation before making decisions on other potential transfers.
Although no agreement has been finalised, the growing interest from multiple franchises highlights Pandya’s value despite Mumbai’s struggles last season. With trade discussions expected to continue over the coming weeks, clarity on the all-rounder’s IPL future is likely to emerge before preparations for the 2027 season begin.
