Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a late-night video message on Thursday, announced that the Centre will introduce a tougher law to curb examination paper leaks, including provisions for fast-track courts and stricter punishments for offenders. The proposed legislation will be placed before the Union Cabinet on Friday and, if approved, is expected to be introduced in Parliament next week.
Addressing students and parents amid nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination, Modi acknowledged the anxiety caused by paper leaks and assured that the government is committed to preventing such incidents.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the Centre’s efforts to ensure that students did not lose an academic year. He said the government acted swiftly to conduct the examinations again, enabling nearly 22 lakh students to complete the process in the shortest possible time.
