His latest contribution came in spectacular fashion against Montreal in Major League Soccer. Messi scored four goals and provided an assist as Inter Miami recorded a 7-1 victory. The performance took his career tally to 927 goals and moved him closer to one of football’s most coveted individual milestones.
Despite having fewer career appearances than Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi has maintained a higher scoring rate. He is averaging around 0.79 goals per game, compared with Ronaldo’s approximately 0.73.
Messi has scored his goals across a career spanning Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Miami and Argentina. His international tally also includes goals from some of the biggest stages in football, including the FIFA World Cup and Copa América.
His most significant international achievement came at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, when he captained Argentina to the title in Qatar. He also won the Copa América in 2021 and 2024.
Now, with his international career over, Messi’s focus shifts entirely to Inter Miami and the remaining years of his club career.
At 927 goals, the 1,000-goal mark remains a demanding target. But with Messi still scoring regularly, the possibility of reaching four figures gives his final years in football another historic storyline.
