Deviya Rane Seeks Salary Revision for NGO-Engaged Librarians in Goa

MLA Dr Deviya Rane has raised the issue of increasing the remuneration of librarians engaged through NGOs during Zero Hour in the Goa Legislative Assembly.

Rane said librarians play an important role in the functioning of the state’s public library network, but their current remuneration remains significantly below the stipulated minimum wage despite an upward revision in 2024.

She urged Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to direct the Art and Culture and Finance Departments to approve the proposed salary revision for the librarians.

Rane also called for steps to strengthen the functioning of public libraries across Goa and improve the working conditions of those engaged in providing library services.
