VVS Laxman to coach India men at 2026 Asian Games

VVS Laxman has been appointed head coach of India’s men’s cricket team for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, with Sunil Joshi, Hrishikesh Kanitkar and new fielding coach Subhadeep Ghosh forming his support staff.

The appointment was confirmed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on September 2. Laxman will take charge because India’s Asian Games T20 campaign overlaps with the home ODI series against the West Indies, scheduled from September 27 to October 3. The Gautam Gambhir-led senior coaching staff will oversee the ODI side.
