Shivaji Statue Row: HC Refuses To Allow MPA To Withdraw Petition

The High Court of Bombay at Goa has rejected the Mormugao Port Authority’s request to withdraw its petition over the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue installed on its land at Sada. The MPA had sought permission to withdraw the case after informing the court that the Goa government had written to it offering to purchase the land in question. The statue was installed on MPA land without permission, prompting the legal dispute.

Despite the proposed government purchase of the land, the High Court refused to allow the MPA to withdraw the petition.
