Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the India-Afghanistan T20I at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on September 13, warning commuters of restrictions, diversions and parking regulations around the venue.
The restrictions will come into force from 2 pm on Sunday and are expected to affect traffic movement around the stadium. The advisory comes as Delhi is also witnessing heightened security and traffic arrangements because of the ongoing BRICS Summit.

According to Delhi Traffic Police, restrictions may be imposed on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, DDU Marg, Mirdard Chowk and JLN Marg, depending on the prevailing traffic situation. The movement of goods vehicles will also be restricted on specified stretches of Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg and DDU Marg.
The traffic police have advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes wherever possible. Motorists travelling through the stadium area have also been urged to avoid unnecessary journeys during the period of heightened movement.
For spectators heading to the match, Delhi Traffic Police has asked them to use routes corresponding to their designated entry gates.
Spectators entering through Gates 1 to 8 can approach the stadium via Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. Those using Gates 10 to 15 can access the venue from JLN Marg, near the Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal. Gates 16 to 18 can be approached from Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg near the petrol pump.
The advisory also asks spectators to use only designated entry points, parking areas and app-based taxi pick-up and drop-off locations. This is intended to prevent congestion and ensure smoother movement around the match venue.
“Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance, avoid unnecessary travel through the match venue area, use alternate routes wherever feasible and follow the directions of traffic personnel,” Delhi Traffic Police said.
The department has also appealed to motorists to remain patient and follow traffic rules while travelling through the affected areas. Drivers have been asked to pay attention to diversion signs and follow instructions from traffic personnel deployed around the stadium.
The advisory is expected to be particularly relevant for commuters using roads around central Delhi during the afternoon and evening, when spectators are likely to begin arriving at the venue.
The India-Afghanistan first T20I is scheduled to be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 13. With a large number of spectators expected to travel to the venue, traffic authorities have advised commuters to make arrangements in advance and allow additional time for their journeys.
