The “Together For Mapusa” group initiated urgent desilting operations at the Tar River in Mapusa on September 12 to prepare the waterway for the annual Shri Ganesh immersion rituals starting at 10 AM. Heavy machinery was deployed along the riverbanks to remove accumulated mud and debris, ensuring proper depth and flow for devotees performing the sacred rites. However, the last-minute cleanup effort has raised concerns among local residents regarding municipal timing, highlighting a lack of advance planning for the major religious celebration.
