A 25-year-old woman from Yavatmal district in Maharashtra suffered a severe scalp injury after her hair became entangled in the rotating bearing of a giant wheel at a local fair.
The incident occurred on Friday during the annual fair organised in Mahagaon taluka as part of the Tanha Pola festival. The traditional one-day fair attracted a large number of women and children from surrounding villages, many of whom had gathered to seek blessings at the Puneshwar Mahadev Temple.

The injured woman was identified as Bali Maroti Talikote, a resident of Phulsawangi. Talikote had boarded the giant wheel at the fair along with other visitors.
According to the available details, the ride was operating at high speed when Talikote’s hair became caught in a rotating bearing positioned behind her seat. As the giant wheel continued to turn, her hair was pulled violently, resulting in a serious injury in which a significant portion of her scalp was torn away.
The incident caused panic among other visitors at the fair, while the injured woman required urgent medical attention.
The incident has also raised concerns over safety measures and supervision on amusement rides at crowded local fairs, particularly during festivals that draw large numbers of families and children.
