In a shocking turn of events in Telangana’s Nizamabad district, a 19-year-old youth allegedly hacked his brother-in-law to death in broad daylight to avenge his pregnant sister’s murder. The suspect, G. Santhosh, targeted C. Hari Babu (24) on a busy street near Shivajinagar before releasing a video admitting to the crime and turning himself in to the police.
The incident traces back to March 17, 2026, when popular 20-year-old YouTuber C. Vaishnavi was found dead at her parental home in Jagtial district. Hours prior to her death, Vaishnavi—who had built a social media following of over 50,000 subscribers—had shared a video announcing her pregnancy. She was subsequently found with fatal stab wounds to her chest and neck, along with marks of strangulation.
Police identified her husband, Hari Babu, as the main suspect. Family members and investigators alleged that Hari Babu regularly harassed Vaishnavi over additional dowry demands and harbored resentment regarding her growing online popularity. The two, who were childhood neighbors, had been married for just a year. Hari Babu was arrested shortly after the incident but was granted bail in July 2026.
Following his release, Hari Babu set up a small business selling corn to earn a livelihood. On Thursday evening, CCTV cameras captured Hari Babu walking toward a street food stall in Nizamabad. A white car pulled up nearby, and an attacker armed with a sickle rushed across the road, repeatedly striking Hari Babu on the head and neck before fleeing the scene.
Hours after the public attack, Santhosh released a selfie video taking responsibility for the murder. In the clip, he stated that he had waited months for judicial resolution following his sister’s death and felt compelled to take matters into his own hands. Santhosh confirmed he was surrendering to authorities to face legal consequences.
