Issues of power dominate Sirlim meet

MARGAO: The Dramapur-Sirlim village gram sabha on Sunday saw villagers expressing their strong resentment over irregular power supply in village.
While sarpanch Agostinho D’Costa who presided informed that he had taken up the issue not only with the Chief Electrical engineer, but also with power minister for power supply. D’Costa expressed his helplessness to solve the problem, informing that his letters to the chief engineer and power minister had failed to receive any reply till date. Agitated villagers also questioned sarpanch over the non functioning street lights and he replied saying that the linemen entrusted with the work had been complaining that there was paucity of manpower and as such they were not able to attend to the complaints to replace street lights. 
The sarpanch further informed that the body had demanded from power supply department authorities to depute additional linemen in the village, adding that though the demand was made over three months ago, the authorities have failed to give any reply. D’Costa also told villagers that the panchayat body has enough stock to replace the fuses of the street lights.
Villagers also raised issues in respect of construction of drainages and tarring of roads in the village with sarpanch stating that the panchayat body has already approached concern authorities to take up the respective works and of reply being awaited.
