PONDA: Cooperation Minister Govind Gaude on Saturday inspected the COVID care centre set up in the new hostel at Goa Engineering College (GEC) at Farmagudi for patients with mild symptoms.
The GEC two new hostels have 95 beds and 71 beds and 54 patients with mild symptoms have been admitted in one of these hostels.

Ponda Deputy Collector Kedar Naik and doctors were present during the inspection.
The Minister later inspected the IIT building at Farmagudi.
He said, “We are also preparing to create facility of another 350-bedded accommodation for mild patients at IIT in next few days. If need be, we have also planned to create another 350-bedded facility at IIT, which can accommodate 700 mild patients.”
Addressing media persons, he said, “We did not create a COVID facility earlier and there was some delay as Goa was in the green Zone. It was recently done when the cases increased. We are creating facilities at three centres at Farmagudi including tourist cottages. However, we did not fall short anywhere in providing treatment to COVID patients.”
He urged the doctors and nurses as well as the people to cooperate and unitedly fight COVID.
Sources informed that of the 54 patients, 34 admitted to GEC Hostel with mild symptoms are from Betki-Khandola.
