MARGAO: South Goa Collector and Returning Officer Ashwin Chandru on Monday informed that in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Election Commission (EC) officials will be monitoring the suspicious bank transactions to curb bribery
Addressing mediapersons, he said that a special team has been formed to monitor the social and digital media platforms with regards to the violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Chandru further stated at a meeting, the bank officials of the South District have been issued instructions with regards to bank transactions.
“Any suspicious bank transaction will be reported to the returning officer by the bank officials concerned. Those carrying cash of above Rs 50,000 should possess proper documentation. Account holders should refrain from carrying cash of more than Rs 50,000,” the collector said.
He informed that complaints received by the officials will be resolved within 30 minutes, wherein the Flying Squad will reach at the site if there is any complaint with regards to violation of code of conduct. A special APP will register the complaints. Nearly 90 per cent of the work with regards to providing facilities at the polling booths has been completed. Media monitoring team has also been formed wherein pre-certifying of the social and digital media will be done with regard to affiliation with the political parties, the Collector added.
