PANJIM: Sachin Soares/Shirish Patil, Yusuf Sheikh/Xisto Fernandes, Jeffery Pereira/Laxman Nadkarni and Joe Douarte/Hemant Ramani marched into the finals of 6th Dr Filipe Pinto Memorial All-Goa Table Tennis Tournament organised by Kabir Pinto Makhija under the aegis of Goa Table Tennis Association at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar, recently.
In the semi-finals, Sachin Soares/Shirish Patil outsmarted Mahesh Talwadkar/ Prashant Kamat 3-0, Yusuf Sheikh/Xisto Fernandes outplayed Joseph Sequeira/Milind Salkar 3-0, Jeffery Pereira/Laxman Nadkarni beat John Pinto/Geeta Washington 3-0 and Joe Douarte/Hemant Ramani defeated Ferdinand Rodrigues/ Euclid Heredia 3-1.
In the Group 1 quarter-finals, Mahesh Talwadkar/ Prashant Kamat beat Daniel Pinto/ Munir Khan 3-0, Sachin Soares/Shirish Patil defeated Jesus D’Costa/ Kashinath Khalap 3-2, Joseph Sequeira/Milind Salkar outplayed Satish Agrahar/Mazhar Nazir 3-1and Yusuf Sheikh/ Xisto Fernandes outplayed Gaurish Burye/Savio D’Cruz 3-0.
In the Group 2 quarter-finals, John Pinto/Geeta Washington outplayed Satish Namshikar/Roselyn Buniyan 3-0, Jeffery Pereira/Laxman Nadkarni outsmarted Samina Beig/Hanisha Gopani 3-0, Joe Douarte/Hemant Ramani defeated Tanay Kaisare/Binu Jose 3-2 and Ferdinand Rodrigues/ Euclid Heredia beat Akshay Chodankar/Viraj Mauzekar 3-0.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Soraya Pinto Makhija in the presence of Goa Table Tennis Association (GTTA) President Sudin Verenker, GTTA Vice President Edwin de Menezes, oldest veteran Shivaji Desai, Mayur Sawkar, GVTTA President Dinesh Sinari and Kabir Pinto Makhija.
