PANJIM: Navhind Publications and Fomento Media won their respective matches on the opening day of inter-media 9-a-side football tournament organised by Sports Journalists Association of Goa in collaboration with Don Bosco Oratory, GFDC and Sporting Clube de Goa, on Wednesday.
Navhind defeated All India Radio 2-1 in the first match of the tournament at DBO ground, Panjim. Navhind and are through to the semi-finals.
Harshal Sawant and Kishore Kamat scored one goal each in the first half, to give Navhind a 2-0 lead before the half-time interval. Bambino Dias scored the only goal of All India Radio, in the fifth minute of second half.
In the second match of the day, Fomento Media trounced Department of Information 3-0. Fomento led 1-0 at half time break.
Saideep Kadam scored a goal in each half. Joel Andrade registered his name on the score sheet in the second-last minute of the match, to make it 3-0 for Fomento.
