Goa State Commission for Women (GSCW) today visited the protective home at Merces and recorded statements of six Nagaland victims on their second day of inquiry. GSCW chairperson Ezilda Sapeco told Herald that they have completed recording statements of six Naga girls.
The commission members including Sujata Bhatkar and Jyoti Gaonkar accompanied the chairperson in the day-long inquiry. Sources said that the girls refuted allegations of being pushed into prostitution.
“The girls said they were employed at the beauty parlour in a bid to learn beautician course,” said the source. When asked, Sapeco declined to comment. “I cannot disclose details of the inquiry,” she said.
The commission on Friday made a futile attempt to speak to the girls as the SDM was already conducting an inquiry. The inquiry is basically to cross check various suspicion raised by Nagaland SCW.
