PANJIM: Shree Shradhanand Vidyalaya, Poinguinim which had initially asked a Class V girl student to seek admission elsewhere because she was a slow learner has finally re-admitted the student after submitting before the State Human Rights Commission that they would do so.
The girl was admitted on August 13, two-and-a-half months after the start of the academic year.
Last academic year, she was kept out of school for seven months because they said she was a slow learner and several representations were made to education authorities and an appeal was even sent to the National Commission for protection of Child rights.
The school re-admitted her in Class V, at the fag end of the academic year 2011- 2012, after the NCPCR passed an order, a special educator was provided by the government.
At the beginning of this academic year, the school did not admit her stating that no special educator has been given by the department leaving the student out of school for two-and-a-half months.
It was then that the Bailancho Saad wrote to the Chief Minister as well as the State Human Rights Commission, which took up the matter.
Before the hearing before the Commission scheduled on August 16, the school relented and decided to admit the girl on August 13 and later submitted before the SHRC that the girl had been readmitted.
