VALPOI: Following their famous threat to boycott the Lok Sabha elections, the prayers of the Ansulem villagers were finally answered as the authorities have finally begun the repair work on the road.
The villagers were also happy that this has started given that they believed that the work had been stopped by the Valpoi MLA in a bid to harass them.
As promised by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant before the elections, the re-construction of the main road leading to the village has been taken up and the hotmixing will be done after the monsoons.
It may be recalled that their pre-election threat had seen even the North Goa Collector convene a meeting with around 200 villagers along with officials to convince them to cast their votes.
Even then the villagers had refused to exercise their franchise and only after more meetings were held including those with political parties, the villagers agreed to vote based on the CM promise and had warned of restarting their agitation if the work did not start by May end.
The road was earlier in a pitiable condition putting the locals at great hardship.
