PANJIM: Leader of the Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar heaved a sigh of relief as the Special Court on Friday granted him anticipatory bail in connection with the disproportionate assets case. Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) is investigating the Congress MLA for allegedly possessing assets more than the known sources of income, and also his wife Savitri – director in his companies – for abetting the crime.Kavlekar has expressed happiness on securing the court relief stating, “I am extremely happy and elated on securing (anticipatory) bail which has been granted today by Special Judge North Goa Irshad Agha. I have had and continue to have full trust and faith in the Judiciary and by this order my trust and faith in the Judiciary has been vindicated. I was always ready and willing to cooperate with the investigating agency, and I shall continue to do so as I am interested in establishing my innocence before the Court of Law.”
